Why have I received a debt collection claim?

If you do not pay your invoice on time, it can be handed over for debt collection. In most cases, the collection requirement is sent to your registered residence address, or alternatively to the company’s registered office address.

If you have paid the invoice before you receive the debt collection claim, it is important that you check your payment. If your payment has been posted to the recipient’s account on the same day as the collection date’s print date or later, you are obliged to pay interest and collection costs. If the claim relates to a rental debt, you are obliged to pay interest and collection costs if you paid on the same day as the collection date’s print date or later, i.e. for this type of claim the amount is considered to have reached the landlord immediately upon payment and not when the payment is posted to the recipient’s account.
